Report from the trenches

June 13th, 2012

No updates for a long time usually means a busy, busy time for a small company such as ours. In spite of all that has happened during the last few months, I will try to squeeze in a few lines from the trenches.

Augmented Reality
We have played around a bit with the augmented reality libraries from Qualcomm Vuforia and Unity and found that they are very usable on the higher spectrum of the mobile devices, and we have started quite a few exciting projects in this area. One of the projects we can show off is our own Chestburster project. It started as a fan project for the Prometheus movie, as I wanted to have the coolest T-Shirt on the opening night!

Egg-Fu Master
Eggs has been discontinued and revamped into Egg-Fu Master! Much easier to play, but still too hardboiled for some people. Now you can get achievement stars when completing a level in different ways.
It is a free download and if you collect 3 stars on a level, you can play the next level for free! Try it!

Helly Hansen
We have made two nice iPad Apps for Helly Hansen, which they use on their tradeshows. They are built to be either handheld by a walkaround rep or to be built into kiosks, showcasing HH´s latest gear and equipment.

Håll Tummen
This is a Swedish campaign for the Euro 2012 football championships made by agency S&B for the Expressen Newspaper. Fingerfunk helped making a cartoony animated film that is shown on the web and in the Swedish football arenas during games and events.

Summerburst Pepsi Lounge
We helped Agency S&B design some cool inflatable furniture in superformat for the Summerburst Festival. Pictures soon!

Games
We have also made some prototypes for new games that we would like to develop, but the Augmented Reality projects are the main focus at the moment for us.

Site Updates
We remade the website so it is streamlined for mobile use. It is made in Adobe Muse, which is quite nice to do simple web for mobile devices and such. We will probaly move the blog to Fingerfunk.se soon l, but one thing at a time!

So how did it go?

October 31st, 2011

We decided to create a mockup-deadline for halloween, and publish a holiday special of an upcoming game we are working on.
The game itself is not much more than an idea, and a prototype of some of the central features.

Try it here if you like.

We hooked it up with a simple facebook LIKE button, and added some metrics thru google analytics. The marketing we did was basically posting on a couple of relevant sites/forums that we found.

The response was not really overwhelming, I don´t think we hit more than a thousand players total, and having taken the bold step of stamping halloween all over the game, I think the window of opportunity is closed for this time. Getting people to find and get attracted to what you´re offering is a lot harder than we thought. One possible next step for this particular mini-game would be to publish it on Kongregate or some other more consumer-oriented games site.

Pumpkin Shooting!

October 18th, 2011

We have fiddled around with a fun SpudGun game, kind of like an Angry Birds in 3D but with “after-touch”.
Then we had the brilliant idea to try to get a public demo out so you can enjoy shooting skeletons and pumpkins for Halloween.

We are trying to document what the process a bit.

Here is a teaser:

EGGS Forum

October 10th, 2011

After the complete failure with our own hosting of a forum, which was hi-jacked by organ enhancing drug providers we have now turned to IndieDB to handle it for us. Indie DB is a good site for people who want to get up to date on the latest news from the Indie Games Dev Scene and is truly worth a daily visit!

WTF is Dungeon Memory?

October 10th, 2011

Satrio has been busy designing a new game.

The idea was to take one of the simplest and most boring games known to mankind and try to make it more interesting and hopfully fun and addictive!

Behold Dungeon Memory, a souped up Memory game with RPG elements.

Try out an early alpha here:
